Scripture Reader: Dr. Valerie Godwin
Scripture Lesson: Matt. 3:11-17, Acts 1:5, Rom. 6:3-5
Topic: Water Baptism, Carnal Ordinances: Fulfilled, Moved Out of the Way, & Spiritual Reality

Matt. 3:11-17
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: … 13 Then cometh Yahshua (Jesus) from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Yahshua (Jesus) answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16 And Yahshua (Jesus), when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of Elohim (God) descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Acts 1:5
“John truly baptized with water; but ye shall BE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT not many days hence”

Rom. 6:3-5 KJV
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Yahshua the Messiah (Jesus Christ) were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Yahweh (the Lord).

Below are some of the scriptures that Dr. R. Brown addressed during his lecture. PLIM members can view entire lecture on Dropbox.

Gal. 3:1-2
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Yahshua Messiah (Jesus Christ) hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Rom. 2:14
14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

Acts 10:44-45
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 5:17-18 KJV
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

Isa. 8:20
To the law and to the testimony! If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Heb. 10:7
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O Elohim (God) .

Lk. 24:17, 24-27
17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? 24 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. 25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: 26 Ought not the Messiah (Christ) to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Where did Water Baptism start, if the Messiah came to fulfill it?

PHYSICAL WATER BAPTISM IS AN IMMERSION OR BURIAL
In Genesis 1:1-13, the scriptures do say that, “In the beginning Elohim created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of Elohim moved upon the face of the waters. And Elohim said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And Elohim called the dry land earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and Elohim saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the Third Day.” (This is the true scriptural record of the earth’s physical Water Baptism).

Vol 2, p. 7, EVE WAS IMMERSED IN ADAM — A TYPE OF BAPTISM

As Eve was of the Body and also the Bride of the first Adam, so also is the Church the Body and Bride of the second Adam, Yahshua the Messiah (Colossians 1:24; Ephesians 5:31-32). This indeed is a great Mystery, but it shows beyond a question of a doubt that when John the Baptist buried Israel and Yahshua by Water Baptism, he was as Paul said in Romans 6:3-4, “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Yahshua the Messiah, were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like as Yahshua was raised from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Hence, when Yahshua was baptized by John, all the human race was baptized in water by him, in that he baptized Yahshua the Messiah.

For as Paul explained in Romans 5:12-14, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and DEATH BY SIN; and so DEATH passed upon all men, for that all have sinned; (for until the Law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is NO LAW. Nevertheless, DEATH reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the FIGURE OF HIM (Yahshua the Messiah) THAT WAS TO COME.”

I Cor. 10:1-4
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was the Messiah (Christ).

Ezk. 36:25
Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

Matt 13:1-2
The same day went Yahshua (Jesus) out of the house, and sat by the sea side. And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

John 3:1-5
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Yahshua (Jesus) by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Yahshua (Jesus) answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Yahshua (Jesus) answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Vol 2, p. 10. “However, many theologians believe and refer to the conversation which Yahshua had with Nicodemus to justify their contention for water baptism in this present Dispensation of Grace when He said, “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of the water and of the spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of Yahweh” (John 3:5). The conversation of Nicodemus and Yahshua took place under the Dispensation of the Law at the time during which John the Baptist was baptizing the Jews with the Baptism of Repentance.

It is important to note that although Nicodemus was a Pharisee and ruler of the Jews that he, like all the other Jews, had broken the Law and was dead. He was no greater than Yahshua, the Master of Israel and the rest of the Jews who were baptized for the dead (1 Corinthians 15:29). Therefore, Nicodemus was also required to be baptized by the baptism of repentance into the Messiah’s death that he might be in the likeness of the Messiah’s resurrection (Romans 6:4-5), being redeemed and born again of the Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.”

Mat 28:19
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Lk. 24:44-45
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Deut. 18:15
15 The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

Acts 1:1-5,
The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Yahshua (Jesus) began both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen: To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Acts 10:44-45
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:35-43

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Acts 11:1-4
11 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him, Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,

Rev. 22:17
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Acts 8:1-5, 26-38
And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison. Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.

26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. 27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, 28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. 29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? 31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. 32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: 33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. 34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Yahshua (Jesus)36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that the Messiah (Jesus Christ) is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Disciples chose honest, trustworthy men, but Philip was not a disciple, he was a waiter.

Acts 18:1-3, 24-26
After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them. And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers. … 24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. 26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

Acts 14:23
23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

Acts 19:1-5
19 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Yahshua (Jesus)When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the master (Lord) Yahshua (Jesus)

Col. 2:8-12
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Romans 6:1-4, 11. Rom. 5:17 - end. Paul asked of the Gentiles, “What shall we (the Jews) say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? By no means! How shall we, (the Jews) that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us (the Jews) as were BAPTIZED INTO YAHSHUA THE MESSIAH WERE BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH? Therefore, we are buried with Him by BAPTISM INTO DEATH: that like as the Messiah was raised up from the dead by the Glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life”. In the 11th verse Paul is referring to the Gentiles NOT TO BE BAPTIZED IN WATER, BUT TO “RECKON YE also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, BUT ALIVE UNTO ELOHIM THROUGH YAHSHUA THE MESSIAH”

Heb. 6:1-6
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

After Israel crossed the Red Sea they were thirsty, but found the water bitter.

Exo. 15:22-27
22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. 23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. 24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? 25 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

Rev. 17:15 people are as waters, 15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

John 7:38-39, Living waters, 4:11
“38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Yahshua (Jesus) was not yet glorified.)”
